Safety Tips
Most transactions on BotSales go smoothly โ but it pays to be informed. Follow these guidelines to buy and sell safely.
Red Flags โ Stop & Think
For Buyers
Research the model first
Use the BotSales Research page to verify the robot's real RRP and specs before agreeing to a price. If a deal seems too good to be true, it usually is.
Ask for proof of ownership
Request the original receipt, box, and any warranty documentation. Legitimate sellers will have no problem providing these.
Inspect before you pay
Always test the robot in person before handing over money. Verify it powers on, connects to the app, and all functions work as described.
Meet in safe, public places
For high-value robots, meet at a robot retailer, police station front desk, or busy public location. Never meet alone at an unfamiliar private address.
Use tracked payment methods
Prefer bank transfer or PayPal Goods & Services over cash for interstate or international transactions. Never pay by gift card or cryptocurrency for marketplace items.
Be wary of shipping-only deals
Exercise extra caution with sellers who refuse to meet in person. Only proceed if you can verify the seller's identity and history.
For Sellers
Never ship before payment clears
Always wait for funds to fully clear in your account before dispatching. Bank transfers can appear to clear before being reversed.
Watch for overpayment scams
Be suspicious if a buyer offers to pay more than your asking price or sends a cheque. This is a classic fraud pattern.
Keep communication on BotSales
Don't move conversations to WhatsApp, email, or other platforms too quickly โ this makes disputes harder to resolve.
Protect your personal details
Don't share your home address, bank account details, or ID documents unless you're confident the buyer is legitimate.
Document the robot's condition
Take detailed photos and video before shipping. This protects you in any dispute about damage in transit.
